Listening to Summery Music Can Lift Your Mood, and Here Are Some Suggestions

hannah barrett

This is a post moved from my old blog: https://uzulblog.wixsite.com/uzul

According to the University of Missouri in the US, listening to upbeat songs can change your mood for the better. And I'm no scientist but I think I can back this one up.

It's getting warmer so obviously the summer tunes have started to emerge again from everyone's music libraries. Feeling a bit stuck as to which songs would be best for this weather? Have a listen to these.

Oh, and by the way, Uzul has a Spotify account! Just click here to see the blog's summer playlist, specially made for this post and you. I've put together 20 songs, including the ones below, perfect for a cheerful or chilled day.

Energised Summer Songs

The Best One - Sunshine by Flight Facilities

With its instantly catchy synthesised guitar and deep melodic bassline, 'Sunshine' is the perfect song for basking in the heat after a couple too many cold months. Flight Facilities share the summery Australian vibes with this 2014 hit.

The Classic One - Superfast Jellyfish by Gorillaz ft. Gruff Rhys and De la Soul

I'm mad at myself for not listening to this one earlier. 'Superfast Jellyfish' is an eclectic mix of hip hop and the impossible to forget Gorillaz sound, the perfect combination to listen to on a cheerful summer's day.

The New One - Pretty Shining People by George Ezra

After a four-year break from releasing original songs, Ezra's release of 'Staying at Tamara's' has caused a stir in the indie-pop community. From the very first track in the album, 'Pretty Shining People', the singer creates an optimistic and fun sound perfect for days out in the sun.

Chilled Summer Songs

The Best One - Laser Gun by M83 ft. Mai Lan

To tell you the truth, this song's good enough to be listened to the whole year round. Mai Lan's naïve-sounding voice coupled with the playful and light beat makes for the ultimate summer song.

The Classic One - I Wanna be Adored, The Stone Roses

'I Wanna be Adored' is one of The Stone Roses' most well-known songs, and for good reason. Granted, its intro is quite long, but it fits in perfectly - the slow build up of the bass seamlessly introduces the wistful-sounding lead guitar and drums.

The New One - Silverado by Easy Life

Recently lo-fi hip hop has steadily gained popularity and indie music is ever-popular, so what better than a mix of the two? If you're looking for a song to relax to, study to or bathe to, this is the ideal track.
